Free crochet pattern: Delightfully Southern Shawl

Ever since I heard about the new Caron Cakes yarn around the Internet Machine I have been very intrigued with how it would work up and what it would take to make it look its very best in a project. Today I came across Kathy Lashley’s design and fell. in. LOVE.

In case you’re like me and the ONLY person in your zip code that doesn’t know about Caron Cakes yarn, here are the deets:

Weight: Medium Worsted (4)
Contents: 80% Acrylic, 20% Wool
Skein Weight: 7.1 oz./ 200g
Yardage: 383 yd. / 350 m
Crochet Gauge:
13 sc – 14 rows = 4″ (10 cm)
Suggested Crochet Hook:
5 mm, US – H/8

But what makes this yarn truly fun is that it has LONG runs of color that change suddenly, so your projects are instantly exciting, and the colors are well-coordinated for you. How easy is that?

Caron Cakes yarn

This might be a trend, or this might be the future of multi-colored yarns – only time will tell – but in the meantime you can get Kathy’s amazing free crochet pattern and try it out for yourself!
