• US I-9 (5.5mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

Row 1: Ch 20, dc in 8th ch from hook (counts as beg dc + ch 2 and also skipping 2 sts of the foundation ch), *ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch, rep from * across (6 dc, 5 ch-2 sp)
Rows 2-6: Ch 5 (counts as first dc + ch 2), dc in next dc, *ch 2, dc in next dc, rep from * across working last st of row into the 3rd of the beg ch-5 (6 dc, 5 ch-2 sp)
Fasten off. Block to measurements

Row 6: Ch 5, *dc in ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, rep from * across, turn (76 dc)

The Sonder shawl is beautiful. But I am having problems with row 6. At the end of the row I get 82 dc not the 76 as stated. What am I doing wrong? I’ve been crocheting since I was a teenager. I am now pushing 70. Thanks for your help.
